ENGIM SL was invited by Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institutes (SLARI) at Gbinti in the Dibia chiefdom Karene District being an organization promoting rice cultivation methods (SRI) that gives highest yields, in their presentation on Sawah, Market Access, and Rice Technologies (SMART) Inland Valley swamps methodology of rice cultivation. In attendance were representatives from Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Food Security (MAFFS) and other Agricultural NGOS. Several discussions were made with regards to the impacts of the SMART IV system on rice cultivation in promoting rice yields, and to merge ideas on SRI and SMART IV methods in Sierra Leone. On the issue of policy, participants came up with the idea of Government also making it a policy to adopt SMART IV and SRI in Sierra Leone.
