Despite all efforts by local and international actors to break the chain of transmission of the EVD, it still continues to devastate the people of Sierra Leone.
This is another era in the history of Sierra Leone were in we lost many lives of our beloved ones, like the rebel war. The figures for S/Leone are far ahead ,WHO sources quote the figure above 8000,far above the other two affected Countries We continue to ask God to help us contain this epidemic.
The St. Joseph Fathers of Lunsar in collaboration with “Around us onlus” ENGIM Internazionale S/L. organized a workshop on Ebola awareness raising for Teachers and other employees.
The aim of this seminar (workshop) is to educate these workers about the deadly virus Disease Ebola, and in return it will have a multiplying effect on the various communities that they come from.
The workshop started on the 6th November and ended on the 8th of November 2014. The participants were sixty (60) and they are divided in to three groups, each of these groups attended one day of the workshop. The participants were drawn mostly from Teachers of the St. Joseph Vocational Institute, Murialdo Secondary School, and some workers from St. Joseph Fathers, Vocational Institute, Murialdo secondary school and ENGIM staff also took part.
The facilitators for the workshop were Mrs. Kabia a retired medical nurse, Dr. Sandy from St. John of God Hospital Lunsar and Mr. Conteh also from St. John of God Hospital. This program was divided into four modules. These are as follows, Infection prevention and control by Dr. Sandy, about Hand Washing by Mrs. Kabia, and about EBOLA (history, causes, signs and symptoms, mode of transmission and prevention) by Mr. Conteh.
